Royal Mail investigates video of Clapham postmen eating hash brownies at work
The footage shows postal workers under the influence of cannabis
Royal Mail has launched an investigation after postal workers in Clapham appeared to be high on drugs from eating hash brownies found in an unclaimed parcel.
A video emerged on social media on Tuesday (February 1) in which the sorting office staff are seemingly struggling to stand after consuming the cannabis-laced snacks
As reported in The Guardian, one of the postal workers appeared bewildered and had to be helped with his delivery trolley.
A colleague could be heard advising him: "You're just really high."
It was believed that he had eaten two hash brownies, but correcting a colleague in slurred speech he said: "I had four in all."
The video showed a package marked "Edibles by Pablo Chocobar".
A caption added to the video explained the package had laid unclaimed at the Clapham office for a month after the house of its intended recipient was empty on delivery.
It said: "Today almost all the posties in Clapham accidentally ate hash brownies and I had to pick them up one by one cause they were so high."
Royal Mail do not appear to have seen a funny side to the video and is considering disciplinary action.
Unconfirmed reports suggest some of the staff involved have been suspended.
In a statement a spokesperson said: "Royal Mail expects the highest standards of behaviour from our people at all times. We are taking this matter very seriously.
It added: "We have commenced an investigation, which will determine whether any further action, including disciplinary action, might be taken. We are also reminding all staff at the delivery office of the correct procedures for dealing with items with no address for delivery or return."
Royal Mail confirmed that no one has suffered any problems with health or wellbeing since the incident.
