Clapham High Street Superdrug permanently closed
As pandemic restrictions eased, not all businesses around Clapham re-opened.
After The Rectory pub in Clapham Old Town permanently closed, its next-door neighbour The Yard followed suit.
Meanwhile over in Clapham Junction, [L]https://clapham.nub.news/n/clapham-junction-l39occitane-shuts-up-shop[L+]L'Occitane en Provence shut up shop on St John's Road, and the nearby camping and equipment brand, Blacks Outdoors, is being replaced by Thérapie Clinic.
The latest addition to this string of High Street store closures is on Clapham High Street itself, where the long-standing branch of Superdrug has permanently closed.
Superdrug, owned by AS Watson, was allowed to remain open under lockdown restrictions as it was an essential retailer.
Despite this, the health and beauty chain saw High Street footfall plummet 75% during the first national lockdown.
Customers will not have to travel far for alternatives. A few doors down from the Superdrug premises at 156-158 Clapham High Street is its competitor, Boots. Loyalists who can't bring themselves to trade the navy blue health and beauty store for the bright blue frontage of its peer can find two branches of Superdrug in Clapham Junction – one on St John's Road and one within the station.
