Saturday, June 10: Live Music - Monsters Abyss + Roberta Medley
Monsters' Abyss - What if Bach gatecrashed The Pixies' birthday party?' That's just one of the questions asked by London based indie-rock outfit Monsters' Abyss. From classical to punk, indie and beyond, Monsters' Abyss fearlessly take inspiration from sounds they admire while giving the violin a proper place in indie-rock music.
Join Monsters' Abyss at the Bread & Roses, Clapham for the launch of their highly anticipated debut EP and a night of music that's sure to leave you wanting more!
Roberta Medley - Indie folk lovers, listen up! Roberta Medley, the Madrid-based band formed in 2012, is making their way to London and bringing their unique sound with them. With a mix of Spaniards and Argentinians in the group, their music draws influences from The Beatles, ELO, Balkan music, folk, and more. Above all, Roberta Medley's focus is on melody, creating songs that will stay with you long after the last chord is played.
Sunday, June 11: Ankle Swingers
Get on board the 154 bus with Will for a riotous journey through his final year of school in South London suburbia, as he navigates his changing sense of self and identity.
It's 2014, and seventeen-year-old Will is meant to be having the time of his life – he's smart, funny and not bad looking, but the world feels suffocating and he actually has no clue what is going on.
Condoms on bananas, the 154 bus, boobs or bum, beer, Morley's, raspberry flavoured vodka, wanking, parties, kissing girls, fancying boys, muffin tops, curry nights and teachers, Shakespeare, friendship, love, family, hope, nostalgia and trousers that don't quite fit you.
Loosely inspired by Khalil Gibran's The Prophet, Ankle Swingers is a warm and uplifting show about the nostalgia for and of youth, as sweet-teenage-innocence is swamped by scary-bitter-adulthood.
