Man charged with murder of Mauricio 'Maurice' Nascimento in Lambeth

A man in his twenties has been charged with the murder of Mauricio 'Maurice' Nascimento in Lambeth.

The Metropolitan Police said today (Wednesday, October 20) that 28-year-old Arturas Ptickinas had been charged with the murder of Mauricio and would be appearing at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court.

A "special" post-mortem examination held at Greenwich Mortuary determined Mauricio, 44, had died of "multiple injuries".

Paramedics found his body at a Lambeth address and called police to the scene on New Park Road at around 6.55am on July 12.

Three other men were previously arrested during the murder investigation and have been released with no further action.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged with the murder of a 44-year-old man in Lambeth in July.

"Arturas Ptickinas 28 (01.03.93) of Norwood High Street, SE27, has been charged with the murder of Mauricio 'Maurice' Nascimento from Croydon.

"Ptickinas is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court today (Wednesday, 20 October).

"Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 06:55hrs to New Park Road, SW2 on 12 July.

Officers attended and found the body of Mr Nascimento.

"A special post-mortem examination held at Greenwich Mortuary gave the provisional cause of death as multiple injuries.

"Three other men have previously been arrested as part of the murder investigation and they have been released with no further action.
