Clapton Craft is preparing to open a growler refill store in Clapham Junction.

A new craft beer shop is set to open in Clapham Junction this Christmas.

Following the success of its shops in Hackney, Finsbury Park and Balham – to name just a few of its seven – Clapton Craft will open its latest branch in Clapham Junction at 31 St John's Hill, previously occupied by Story Works.

Clapton Craft prides itself on the technology used with its growlers and "squealers" – the air-tight jugs used to transport draft beer.

The first Clapton Craft opened in 2014 on Lower Clapton Road in Hackney after business partners Will Jack and Tom McKim worked together sourcing beers at Borough Wines.

While others were starting to sell growlers, Clapton Craft was the only shop to use a counter-pressure filling unit, the same technology microbreweries use to bottle their beers.

Jack explained: "The filling unit gives you the ultimate quality control, and there are a few London breweries that won't sell you beer to retail in this way unless you use this system.

"There's also beers available on keg that aren't available in bottles."

In addition to improving the quality – beer in Clapton Craft's growlers stays fresh for up to six weeks – one of the big draws to growlers is they're refillable.

Now in the thick of store refurbishments, Clapton Craft has targeted December 10 as its opening day.

If your growler needs a refill before then, head to Clapton Craft's Online Shop.
