D-day hero born in Clapham dies aged 97
A "greatly loved" D-day hero who landed on Sword Beach, Normandy, has died at the age of 97.
Ernest Aylott, known as Ernie, was born in Clapham and joined the Royal Army Service Corps in 1942, aged 19.

Girl, 3, seriously injured by electric scooter in Lambeth park
Ministers are under pressure to crack down on electric scooter use after a crash with one in Lambeth left a three-year-old girl hospitalised last night.
The crash, which happened in Lambeth's Myatt's Field Park around 8.30pm on Monday (July 20), is now under investigation by the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Police have appealed to the rider of the e-scooter and any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
Young man fatally stabbed while less than 200 yards away Lambeth Council votes down a motion to reduce youth crime
A man was fatally stabbed in Brixton while less than 200 yards away, Lambeth Council voted down a Motion to reduce youth crime in the borough.
Officers were called to the scene near Brixton Underground Station at around 8.18pm this evening (Wednesday July 21) and found a man in his early 20s suffering from a stab wound.
Video footage of brutal brawl at Clapham Junction ASDA
Five people have been arrested after a brawl involving people dressed as superheroes broke out in Clapham Junction ASDA last night.
Police were called to the supermarket on Lavender Hill at around 10.40pm yesterday (Thursday July 22) and have said six people were injured, with one woman in her 20s taken to hospital.
