Heavy rain floods roads around Clapham and Battersea
A key route for drivers travelling between Clapham and Battersea is closed as heavy downpours and thunderstorms have left it flooded.
Two vehicles are stuck in floodwater on Latchmere Road after their drivers underestimated the depth of the water. Meanwhile moped drivers use pedestrian walkways to reach their destinations via this critical route.
Children in care of Lambeth Council "subjected to decades of cruelty and abuse"
Lambeth Council allowed hundreds of children in its care to be subjected to levels of cruelty and sexual abuse on a scale that is "hard to comprehend", an independent inquiry has found.
The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) received allegations of sexual abuse from 705 former residents and found that while in Lambeth's care as children, they were "pawns within a toxic power game" within Lambeth Council and between the council and government. The true scale of the abuse will never be known, it said, but is certain to be significantly higher than is formally recorded.

Clapham can officially head to Lane Eight for its daily caffeination, with doors to the new coffee shop open at 6 The Pavement.
Clapham coronavirus: Wandsworth still has the highest infection rate of London boroughs despite national decrease in cases
Wandsworth borough's infection rate currently stands at 553 per 100,000 of the population, with Lambeth second – according to government figures from the week ending July 22.
Residents in the borough are out of ideas on how infections can be reduced now all lockdown restrictions have eased with some fearing another lockdown is looming, but health bosses are urging people to get vaccinated.
Delays between Clapham Junction and Balham as person hit by train
A person has been hit by a train between Balham and Clapham Junction.
Southern Rail UK reported the incident on Twitter at around 10.10am. It wrote: "It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Balham and Clapham Junction.
